I have been a mindfulness teacher since 2013 and graduated from Bangor University with a Post-graduate Diploma in Teaching Mindfulness Based Approaches in 2017. In 2014, I co-founded the Mindfulness and Social Change Network with Luke Wreford which is a community of practice exploring the intersection between mindfulness and social change. As well as running the network, I occasionally run eight week courses and half day retreats. During this period where we are all dealing with Covid 19, I am running on-line drop ins on Tuesdays.
I have delivered mindfulness at the workplace for Oxford Policy Management and run workshops and talks for entities such as the Mindfulness Association, International Mindfulness conferences, Mindfulness on the Margins unconference and the Advaya Initiative. I have run guest speaker sessions for Atlantic Fellows Leadership programme at London School of Economics and self-care for change makers sessions for University College London.
Paula offers a unique perspective, working in the ID/humanitarian space
I thoroughly enjoyed Paula’s 10-week mindfulness programme – a highlight to the week in such unprecedented times, and so brilliantly delivered online!
Such a generous, good spirited and really nice experience…really encouraging and supportive.. everybody should have a go
Paula & social change work
I still work as a freelancer for civil society organisations, groups and networks. I’m currently working on developing a community of practice guide for environmental movements keen to build blended and transformative learning into their teaching practice. I am currently running a project called ‘Mindful Action on Whiteness’ which is around anti-racism in practice. Examples of my previous work include:
- 6 years managing a training programme for a small civil society support INGO (INTRAC) and delivering training of trainers & support with monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of training
- Advisory/consultancy experience with Freedom from Torture including strategy, theory of change and impact assessment
- Trainer of transformative collaboration skills for Ulex as well as helping them fundraise for adult education programmes through Erasmus Plus
- Fundraising and supporter relations with Oxfam GB
